Since May 2008, I’ve been contending for spiritual breakthrough at the local college campus through prayer walks and praying scripture. I believe that God has a significant assignment for me at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU).

August 13, 2008: Exactly three months after being laid off at my last job
Last night, before I went to bed, I read more in the book Visioneering by Andy Stanley. Andy referred to the first few chapters of Nehemiah. In those chapters, Nehemiah received a vision to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and ask the king to grant him favor and finances to help him rebuild the walls. Take note that Nehemiah was asking a rival king to finance the rebuilding of a city that his predecessors destroyed. Seems like a steep request.

December 27, 2010: Over two years after hearing I have an assignment at MTSU
When I first began praying for MTSU, I assumed I would be employed by the college. Now, after the passing of time, I realize that my assigned job isn’t what I initially thought it would be. My assignment is the students on that campus. It doesn’t matter if I have an official job at MTSU. No, it matters that I invest time in that campus and develop relationships with the students.

In 2010, I became a leader in Frontline–our young adults ministry. We recently started gathering on the MTSU campus once a month to talk to students and pray with them.

This may seem small. As in, “Oh, wow…you get to go to the campus and talk to students. Anyone can do that. Big deal…” It’s a huge thing because the church body that I’m a part of is beginning to build a ministry on that campus. The promise God made to me is being fulfilled. I’ve been given an assignment at MTSU.

Although we’ve just started our adventure at MTSU, I’m anticipating many wonderful things.
