Twitter killed the blogging star.
At least in my case.
Since I created my Twitter account (you can follow me @lindsayletters), I have ceased blogging. I’ve straight up stopped. Tweeting is easier than developing an entire post on concrete thoughts. Yet, there are so many satisfying things about writing a blog. There are benefits, too, especially in the business sense.
And I know this “business sense of blogging” thing very well, because I write the blogs for The Bug Man, a family-owned pest control company in Murfreesboro, TN.
Every day, I pore over the stats of The Bug Man blog. I look at who’s searching for us and what they’re searching for. I tweak and adjust every word, down to the letter. I think of new things to blog about all the time. In my office. In my car. Sometimes even when I’m trying to fall asleep at night.
As you can predict, I lose the zest for writing blogs about me. I begin wondering if I have anything relevant to contribute to the world. But the tugging feeling within me remains. So here I am again.
If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you’ll notice a huge surge in posts about bugs and pest control. It’s because I am employed by a pest control company. I think about and talk about bugs on a daily basis now. I learn a lot and I think that my friends would be interested to know some of the things, too, so I retweet and share some of the posts that I use for The Bug Man.
It is hard for me to muster up the creative energy to write blogs about me. However, if you want to read stuff that I write (and learn a lot along the way), I encourage you to read The Bug Man blog. I write an average of one post per week.
Maybe you’ll see me more active on this blog. And maybe not. Only time will tell.
